I'm sure someone has thought of this, but I am unable to find anything;
Would it be possible to just remove the mirror entirely from your OHP and put a hole in the top, allowing the image to pass directly through? I have included a picture to help describe what I mean.

Actually I was hoping to remove the mirror, as this would just be in the way. The reason being; I find that in my household setup, a longer projector, rather than a taller one, would be better. One thing I could see being a problem with this, is the amount of excess light coming from the base, that would pass by the lense. Of course, you could put a simple box around the light that is showing, and just make sure to cool it.

The only problem you may have a mirror usually flips the image as well.

The only difference is that the image would be flipped. This set up would work for rear projection or front projection with an image flipping software.
I believe YWH uses this set up but I could be wrong. I could be wrong about this but you would actually gain some light output, maybe not noticable. It wouldnt be anydifferent than taking the guts from the projector and putting it in a box. As far as light leakage it shouldnt be any different with or w/o the mirror.

The easiest way to flip the image is to physically flip over the LCD panel.
