Default nview mediapro test

Hi all-

Let me start off by apologizing, I don't have any pictures to show off, I neglected to grab the digital camera.

I tested out my nview mediapro on a 3m overhead projector (I can get the model if needed). I lugged the 3 bench power supplies it took to get the power running on the mediapro, and my dvd player into my deparment, hooked everything up, and got a very good picture in my opinion.

I did have one problem, the picture kept getting lighter and darker on me. Now I know about macrovision, and I thought that might be it, but I was using S-video input, and I thought that macrovision only affected RCA input. Does anyone know if macrovision can effect S-video?

Other than the light dark thing, I was very impressed, no blurring of the fast scenes (I was watching the training scene of the Matrix). I guess I will get the electrician in my department to build me a power supply, and then I am rolling....

i'm going to clear up some big confusion regarding s-video and rca...

unlike video formats such as PAL, NTSC, composite, componentc, etc... which technically have different "encodings" or ways of being transmitted, RCA and S-Video outputs are the same. You may be saying, hey, i wasn't born yesterday, you cant plug an s-video into an RCA or vice-versa... yes, i know, but the video format is exactly the same, the plug is just different shape. i really dont know the pin configuration, but a simple cable can convert RCA to s-video, and back again. no special electronics needed.

this is the reason you are getting macrovision protection on s-video, its the same video output, its just coming through a different connection.

so, why have s-video? well, as i understand it, it has more connections, thus increasing bandwidth, and separation of channels... not a huge improvement, but one nonetheless.

had some people over at our apartment last night, and I showed off what I had. They thought it was awesome.

The guy even gave me $50 to continue work, as long as I pay him back, or promise to build him one after I was done with mine. lol

quite frankly, I needed the $ my project funds were dried up, and I still needed materials for the final box. he also lent me this dremel-like tool for me to use to route out some things for my reflector. it will also cut aluminum without bending it like tin snips would, which was something else I needed.

SuperDave:

I don't think you can find fresnels for less than $100 at the size you need. Good luck on the new LCD.

I ordered my fresnels last week, plan to hit home depot this weekend to build a frame. If I ever get a good image with an overhead transparancy, I will put out the $450 for a VG150. Of course, I will post pics if I get this far.

Default my VG150 is broken

well...I put my VG150 monitor back together and I get NO picture when it is on . I managed to break it somehow. It's quite odd...it worked one day and then the next I had nothing. Oh well I will ship it back to get fixed and probably be without the monitor for a month or two.

That is why I purchased the the nview z-350. I got it for only $150 not too bad if it turns out to be a decent panel. My biggest concern is the response time. It will be here tomorrow evening, so I will let you all know the details by Friday.

I did get my Dukane 980 yesterday. MAN that thing is bright. The lamp clock states it only has 10 hours. I assume it has more and somebody just took it out and put it back in...but I'm not too concerned. It is SOOO much nicer than my cheap old elmo I bought with. As stated before the dukane has a 575W MH bulb which gives off 7000 lumens of focussed light. That is more than my 600W (halogen) elmo gives off straight from the bulb. When this thing is on it lights up my entire room almost like my 175W MH bulb did when it was right in the middle of the room...and the dukane's light is all coming from the image projected on the wall.

I cant wait to get my panel and through it on this thing.
With my Plas-tex screen and this beast of a projector I should be able to watch movies during the day without much problem.

I will keep you guys posted and let you know if they take my vg150 back like they did for Myren. By the way Myren, if you're still around, Do you happen to remember who you spoke to that OK'd you to send the monitor back?

Good luck,
Dave

Talking i think im wrong

that cr*py hps bulb put out more of a picture than i thought
im almost to very satisfied with the light put out. i desided to continue testing due to 2 thing that i couldent see last night.
#1 the light is a greenish or yellowish color, however i saw that same movie on tv last nite to and it was kinda a yellowish tint to.
i planto try a difrenet movie tonight (with a normal tint).
#2 the pixel were sharp but the picture wasnt. i think cause the movie was wide screen and that takes away about 1/3 of the pixels on the lcd screen. im using a 5.6" lcd with a remote control for easy adjusting etc. the res. is about i think 900 something X700 and something, when playing wide screen its probly only900x470 res. witch probly is the problem.

this is my setup
*400watt hps in the bigest piece of sh*t reflector
*not one not two but three frensal lenses
*5.6" a.m. lcd with about 900x700 res.
(its already *****d up. the polverizer in the back came off with the heat from my other project so i cut a rectangle out from two boards put the lcd with the polverizer that keeps on coming off inbetween the two sheets of wood and screwed about 10 screws in the sucker.very carfully)
*delta IV projection lens, might be a problem i dont no yet cause where i was working is a very tight plase and i couldnt tell if the whole lcd projected on the wall

also ihave a opertunity to use a 600watt and 1000watt metal halide and or high presure sodium bulb that my friend has in his green house. so in the next week or so ill be doing alot of "free" testing cooooooooL. ill tell you how it gose. ive been taking picture i just havnt had time to put it on the nonworking web page. note crome spray paint really sucks ballz. its usible but i wont use it agian(dont touch it or it turns grey,& dont put a clear coat on it or it turns grey) i still sujjest to try somthing else.
later dudes
