Crt, Dlp, Lcd Oh My!

I was looking into buying either a DLP or LCD video projector. I was leaning toward the DLP because of the higher contrast ratio. But I have recently noticed that CRT projectors have great video quality. I know that CRT's are big and bulky though. Is it even worth it to look around for one for about $2,000.00 or so? If so, can someone recommend one? Thanks!

i have seen a lot of posts about crt projectors on this forum, and almost everyone of them says that LCD is much better.

crt projectors are big and very fragile. apparently it is very easy to break a crt projector, and it has 3 lamps that have to be replaced in stead of 1.

but i never owned one so maybe i'm totally wrong.

however i'd say if your budget is 2000,-...... you can buy a real nice lcd projector!

Absolutely not, CRTs are best no contest.My CRT is 18,000:1 Contrast 1600x1200 resolution 900 lumens 8" tubes..

DLP is 3,000:1 and rainbows all over the place..lol(exxageration)
Wout, you haven't been reding the right posts if their saying LCD is better than CRT...show me the posts, LCD doesn't stand a chance in front on CRTs...Too many reason I won't go into them..

CRTs have 3 TUBES not 3 lights and these tubes last at an minimum of 10,000 hours at MAX brightness it wil last a LOT longer and low brighness and medium and with my 900 lumen CRT on low is 600-700

Break easily? No way...LOL CRTs were made for the military and NASA they are built TOUGH...its not gonna be easy to break a 150 LB item,the only downsize the me is the size other that that no contest.


for 2,000$ you can get a SICK CRT with 25-30,000:1 a high end unit, if your lucky you'll get high end CRT for 300$ and 380$ and 265$ (all shipped) Like I have

nothin wrong with using LCD...but they dont compare them to CRT

have u ever heard of lcos nd? it out does crt in contrast and reso by about 4x, they are reflective lcd's, maybe u have been reading the wrong posts.

WELL have you read my post trev? obviously not, If you did you would notice I never mentioned Lcos.If you can find me a LCOS under 50,000$ then we can talk.

LCOS= Liquid Crysyal OVER silicon LCd= Liquid crystal display..I thnk Made it pretty clear about what I said..don't know why your posting this...but if you read again the post is still there...lol
Why didn't you mention DLP? why only LCOS...its seems you missed that part when I said LCD and DLP and choose to see LCOS.

wtf? lcd's dont just come in one form, define your lcd first, lcos is lcd!!!!!!! if your talking if lcd is better then crt yess the TECH of actual lcd is far better then crt!!!! weather it being lcos , reflective of a normal lcd they are all lcd tech, i dont know why u are even bothering to post in here, this topic has been discused over and over again and over again, its a waste of space, and realy nd i dont think u belong in a diy forum if u are using pro gear, maybe the av forum is better for u now, it makes no sense and all i have ever seen u do in here is sell panels that u obtain for $50 and sell for $180 to noobs, its not business corner, its diy corner, its about saving money, so while im at it stop ripping new people off with old gear thats worth what u payed for it.
