Default newbie help needed

I really want to build a projector for my bedroom. I only need an image about 60". I am a complete and total noob. I keep reading all the threads for noobs and I still have no clue where to start. I can spend $300-$400 (prefer around $300). I can also spend up tp $200 for a quality screen to project on. Should i buy a set of plans as i have no idea where to start. I built my pc myself so im not a retard with electronics, but i'm by no means an expert. I was thinking I could build some kind of case for it to hang the projector from my ceiling (not included in costs). Is this a bad idea. My plans are to use my pc so i can watch dvd's and watch tv after i buy a tv tuner. Any one wanna help me get started???

Default Welcome Sig!

Well let me first say $300 should do it! I spent less then 100bucks for my first PJ. As for buying plans, don't! there are tons of free plans out threre, i'll give links. and i hope your not talking about the TV and Lens trick.?. When i first started wanting to build a projector i read and read all i could on the subject and i would sugest you do the same. Good luck to you.

some reading you can do...

Thanks for the info. I have a ati radeon 9800 pro video card and it has an s video output so i don't think i would need an lcd that hooks up to a pc.
