https://www.1000bulbs.com/category.php?category=139 price isnt a ting for me when buying the bulb itself, i wanna know heat issues here, will it melt my lcd just being in the same room or what? Also someone once said it would add an extra hundred a month to the electricity bill, is that true?

For starters build the enclosure with a mind toward heat control. That bulb will be a mini sun, and I'd imagine the ballast will pump heat too.
Personally, my design would start with the bulb at the uppermost portion of the PJ, so the airflow could be setup to flow upwards, in its natural path. I would probably also use a mirror to keep the LCD a little more isolated from the heat. Might even seperate the LCD and Fresnel from the whole light chamber with a pane of glass so the heat couldn't reach the LCD at all directly. I'd probably also enclose the ballast in its own compartment to completely isolate it's heat away from everything else. That ballast probably gets hot enough to warrant an exhaust fan for it's compartment. I'm not sure what the size of the arc would be on the bulb, but it might be too big. But I'm no expert on lights. That's just my thoughts. Not trying to gainsay you though, I personally think more power can never be a bad thing, if properly handled, heh... Whos gonna build the first 3000 watt LCD projector with a huge LCD that can project a 300" image. heh, i'll root them on, but I sure can't afford it. |

Yeah I think 1500W would be enough for the 2 LCD sytem we were talkin bout on the other thread. Heh, that's 750W each panel.... That's still alot of light...
