So you have to crop the original image to use 2 projector setup?
There is no way around this?

No, you don't have to crop the image. It's just that the aspect ratio created by two 4:3 screens side by side is not your common aspect ratio at all. So nothing fits it perfectly.
This could be overcome with the use of an anamorphic lens I believe, but I haven't gotten all the way through that thread yet, it's a deep one. So you deal with black bars on the sides. I dont think it would be bothersome, and it would be one hell of a desktop when you weren't watching movies. Personally I think any cropping of a movie is distasteful, which is why I also prefer widescreen versions of movies. I'd far rather deal with a slim black bar on either side than lose a horizontal bar from the top and bottom just to fill up the screen. just my thoughts... |

This is a one single ended bulb design that turns the light into 2 sources for a 2 lcd design. Someone said you cant use 2 light sources. So this wont work correct?
Each lcd will carry one half of the final image generated by 2 video cards from a decent htpc playing 1800x768 anamorphic widescreen movies with no anamorphic lens.

let s reinvent the the lcd projector...
there are two cards which can handle your preferences as far as i know: the s3graphics chrome series and the matrox G... (i don't know exactly) series. you do need a fast cpu at least 3Ghz. cards like nvidia and ati won't work, cause they can only support one video signal on the primary monitor even if u have 2 monitors connected. on the second you will see a black picture... i like your idea but i think it would be too pricey though... but what about using your idea instead of splitting the picture in two parts to get more brightness and contrast in the projected picture? u'll get let's say two of this lilliput tfts and use a 150W cmd lamp behind each, use mirrors to make one picture out of them, and finaly u'll get a brighter image; like u would have used a 300W but better for the panels... |

Ok. I get it. But how can i use this design to combine the res of 3 lcds. Because this design superimposes all 3 images onto one on the screen.
