Hello everyone,
after reading through nearly every thread in this forum I've finally bought an BenQ FP557s and took it apart as described by Kolima. But after connecting it to my computer I only saw vertical stripes in all colors interspaced with black. At first I thought of a grounding problem - but even after connecting the all the hardware to its orginal metallic frame it wouldn't get better. So, can anyone tell me what I did wrong - or better - how I can solve this problem. Thanks allot |

I bought a BenQ off Ebay and plugged it up to my computer and all I got was a white background with vertical lines in different colors. I took it up to Best Buy and the tech guy said one of the "guns" was blown. He said that it couldn't be fixed. I sent it back and got my money back.

Hm. That sounds pretty bad - espacially since I allready took it apart and that means no money back according to german law.

The only thing I can recommend is make sure the ribbons connecting the LCD to the PCB's aren't broken. Maybe during handling you put too much stress on them and one of the traces broke.

Well, during my search for the cause of the problem I broke a few of the traces (damn it - they are hard t fix) which left a one inch black space on the side if the LCD where the mentioned traces were attached - the rest of the lCD however remained in colorful stripes. So I think this can't be the source of the problem.
