My house burnt because I put a filament lamp inside a wooden case.
No kidding.
WOW! Thats not good. I have been building them since 04. Never had a problem. Always used sheet metal shielding, never bare wood near the lamp, fans, and did many tests before feeling safe. Always tend the projector when its on.
Any flat/matte paint will do. In my diy I used stick on felt. It doesnt reflect at all. Just do not put it under your light engine and you will be fine.
I am guessing the felt is in the front cool section, I wouldnt want it near the lamp.
I had felt in front and back. My light engine was enclosed in sheet metal though so apart from the actual metal, everything stayed fairly cool. Yah you deff dont want the felt near an open bulb thats for sure. Just use some high temp oven paint. Its dull and can withstand any heat you throw at it.
As you can see in my current LED build I just used flat black spray paint.
