Hi,

Ive got an old NEC VT45 projector and was thinking I might be able to use the ballast ina Diy projector I'm hoping to build. Does anyone have any experience of taking one of these out and wiring it up? I'm assuming it'll be a fairly straightforward case of pluging the 240v ac straight to it. I dont have much experience with ballasts and this is going to be my first attempt at moving on from my old faithful ohp amd 3m lcd panel combo thats served me well for the last few years.

Should a 400w metal halide be sufficient to light a 21" panel (any 1920*1080 panels suggestions without fcc issues would be appreciated) througg to an approx 100" screen?
