Default 3 leds facing each LCD?

HI,. I got my modded Nec vt470 running with a cree 885 lm led + optics at 2.4A . Works great. But I believe it's the most powerfull single die led emmiter available. Read somewhere someone was going to try installing 3 leds inside an EPSON 755c light tunnel, facing a LCD panel each. Wondering, has anyone done that?- If so, pleasse let me know how it went . Allways looking out for ways to get more light for my NEC
