I want to make an lcd projector, however i can not afford a metal halide lamp, would it be okay to use a 500w 8000 lumen halogen security light with extra cooling.
also i have found some plans for a projector, i don't think it would work, could you please tell me your opinion. sorry but you will have to look at the plans on youtube i don't know how to post pictures: http://www.youtube.com/33639856 it should be the featured video if not it is called "projector" P.S. i just found it at the bottom |

nah halogens create a yellowish light and the light is mostely wasted as heat. you would need like water cooling to cool this beat haha. i tell you what i did though was buy this metal halide light from here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/150-WATT-HIGH-...262&_trkparms=|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A30 and i gutted the lot.. some people may dissagree about arc issues or something but with a reflector it works perfectly. only like £40 .
