Hi! ok I have been asked to start a new thread (in the Help with InFocus LP340 thread)so sorry for posting this again

I got a lamp from ywh it worked great the first day i testet it (bright and with good colours). But sadly the next day the projector broke down just after 30 minutes. After checking the powerboard the first thing i noticed was that the resistor R577 is burned (and open) and the condensator C518 is shorted. After some reading in this great forum I guess that the viper100a and one or two photocouplers SFH617A-2 is gone too and C13
(el.condensator 100mikroF. 25V).And the 3 pinned component on the left of C518 marked ?508 (i can´t read the first letter ).
I guess schematics for this powerboard is impossible to find.If i gonna try to repair this i need to know the values of the following:

R577 ??? ohms (can´t read the numbers because its burnt think it begins with a 5 and ends with a 0)
C518 ?? (got no markings)
?508 don´t know what this is transistor or diod ?? (it´s marked n5 JE)

Projector: Infocus LP530
Ballast: MagneTek Model: 3A49-03-100 (Output:75VDC @ 3.6A)Original lamp is: 270w SHP now lamp is 270w JYS/DC from ywh

Can you mbates14 or anybody here help me with this, or where i can find a new powerboard?
Any help would be great! Thanks a lot!

i hate to burst ywh bubble, but his lamps just arnt compatible with these power supplies.

i dont know, and i dont care how many good successes there have been with 500s, and 530s, but ive got more 500 power supplies on my work bench that i have to repair, then you will EVER see, that tried his lamps. lol....

the LP530 supplies just dont have enough ignition voltage to fire them off, and will eventually cause the push-pull controller to fail...

the LP500s will cause an over-current condition and cause them to fail, such as in your case.. 🙂

my next post will be how to fix the failed supplies.

to PREVENT this mess with ywh lamps for the most part:

there is a power level adjustment screw on the board. it needs to be turned up about an 8th of a turn. that should do it.

Help with infocus LP350

Hi mbates14, I read your post about how to repair Viper100A failure on LP340B / LP350 porwer supply, I repair a couple of power supplyes following your guidelines but now one of them fail again, then searching for information I read that a new lamp is not compatible with this type of power supply because need some rework...

Then if I install a replacement lamp for an infocus LP350, I think the old lam/bulb is a LP-LAMP-LP3E, but according to www.infocus.com a replacement for the old LP-LAMP-LP3E
will be the LP-LAMP-LP3F but a rebuild of the projector is required
(power supply) to fit the new LP-LAMP-LP3F

Does anyone know why the projector has to be rebuild ?
(as far as I can see the new bulb is the same as the old, they are both labeled SHP6 on the bulb, but lamp module is labeled 505-0631-02 on the old module and 505-0631-05 on the new module.

Obviously a rebuild is need to prevent the Viper100A failure, I think, do any of you know how the rebuild is done ? or how to prevent the Viper100A to fail again ?

Thanks.

Other LP350...

Hi again mbates14, just received other LP350 for repair but it have a totally different failure: the resistors R530 and R532 are totally blown, also other parts like R538...

You know about this failure ? Can you provide me please guidelines to repair this power supply ?

Thanks again.

no.. the rebuild is required to stop the boost converter from frying its windings and MOSFET, becuase of the different required current draws.

i dont like working on those goofy *** LP340/350 supplies becuase of the stupid silicone blobs. any suggestions with that???

LP530 PSU rebuild/upgrade

Dear all,

reading this thread the upgrade/rebuild to the LP530 power supply necessary to allow it to drive the new 5F bulb is mentioned but not described.

I have an old LP530 which I want to modify to take the new bulbs (missed free infocus upgrade by 2 weeks!)

Electronic engineer so happy to solder on. Anyone able to describe the modifications necessary?

thanks in advance

What is the new power supply model?

Hello,

I have an Infocus LP530 projector. I pick it from my work and it came with no lamp and I do not know if my power supply was replaced to the upgrade version or not. I bought a new lamp and it exploded after 80h. I do not know the reason of the explosion and I bought a new lamp again and I need to know if I have the correct power supply before instal the new lamp.

My power supply is a MagneTek 3A49-04-000. It is different of the 3A49-03-100 exposed here. Someone know if my power supply is an upgraded version and I can use the new lamp?

Regards
Daniel

Replacing the fuse on LP530

Projector stopped working all of a sudden. I had unplugged it overnight, changed powercords, and still no power. No light, no fans, nothing. Someone had suggested changing the fuse under the top cover by the plug for the power cord. I took it apart found the fuse, it had horizontal color lines on the outside so I couldn't tell if it was burnt or not. Now due to my carelessness I have lost the fuse. If you know what the replacement would be please let me know. Thanks in advance!

do you get a power light blinking when you hit power? but you dont get no fans or nothing?

if so it isnt the fuse.

if you get no power LED or anything, it might be the fuse, or the surge thermocouple.

it could also be the standby controller IC.

I have the same projector but it is the Toshiba branded TDP-T1. I sent it in for upgraded power supply and new lamp. It worked till it ran out of warranty then has since quit working. The lamp fires works for a while then goes out, fires off again then repeats till it quits trying. I want to replace the lamp with something affordable and an external power supply, magnetic or electronic. Do I have to do anything to disable the existing power supply to enable the rest of the projector to work with another lamp/power supply? And if so what?

only real difference is the ignition voltage.

there are a series of 5 resistors, and another resistor directly under the ballast transformer that need adjusting/replacing. 🙂

Hi, could you elaborate which resistors exactly and their new values? I appreciate so much that info ..

I have a LP340B projector a new model lamp and power supply no upgraded. (I think in good shape)

Thanks

how to replace the lp350 power suppy

Hi

I am having trouble finding out information on how to replace the power supply in the LP350. Is is only the power supply that need to be replaced? Any information would be greatly appreciated (such as specific replacement parts etc). As much detail as possible would be great as I am no expert.

Thank You,
