One correction perhaps - I would consider the clock implementation in the stock Hiface superior to the clock implementation in the stock Musiland.

Well, my comment on how musiland implemented everything that is not software and the raw chips was summed up with "shame about everything else".

Both HiFace and Musiland benefit from using external powersupplies, better powersupplies for the clock and in the case of the Musiland removing the clock from being directly generated by the USB Chip in a pierce oscillator.

And yes, the stock Hi-Face sounds often better than the stock Musiland. However, given both are USB 2 SPDIF converters it muct be noted that both have implementations of the SPDIF interface that are what I would call "defective by design", so there will DAC's where one or the other performs better.

So either M2Tech HiFace or Musiland Monitor need a lot of reworking to work correctly.
