Searched the forum.. but none mentioned on the quality of Project 85. So anyone have any idea on how this DAC will sound like? I will be using this DAC with my Santa Cruz soundcard digital output.

Hi Pyro,
I build Project85 from Rod Elliot / Randy McAnnaly as my introdcution into digital DIY audio; my first DAC. I ordered the chips from Randy McAnnaly and he was very kind and provided good service. The DAC is easy to build. You can skip the circuit/reset-buton and the relays etc ; even the LP-filter can be skipped. The sound is very nice but don't expect mirracles. Provided good output caps are used, and a output buffer (opa134 / NE5552) might be benifitial, it's a great project for a first DAC. Prices from www.audiochips.net are good too . gr, Thijs PS Audio up to 24-bit and 96 kHz is supported, making it very versatile... hmmmmmm ... never used it but might be nice |
