Marantz CD16 drawer issues

Hi guys,

I just snapped up a CD-16 for a bargain price. It has a metal CDM4 pro laser assembly, which seems to be performing great. Only thing that's wrong with it is the following: sometimes the drawer doesn't open when pressing 'open'. After several more tries, it will open.

I have opened the player up, and there seem to be two steps in the opening of the drawer mechanism.
1) Raising of the clamp, using a motor
2) Pushing the drawer out, using a different motor.

When it fails to open, the first step seems to go okay, but it won't push the drawer out. I couldn`t find anything obviously wrong....

Has anyone experienced similar issues or know a solution?

I think I fixed the problem. The CD 16 has square rubber belts and pulleys that move the tray in and out. One of the belts on the far left hand side of the player felt a bit loose and may have slipped sometimes. I replaced it with a smaller one and it works fine. As is was an intermittent problem I can't be sure the problem is solved, but it looks good so far! Total cost : 2.50 euros! :-)

I have exactly the same situation - where did you get the replacement parts?

Hi! Been a while since I was here!

Actually got them from my local electronic components store: http://www.rotor.eu/en/indexprog.php
They sell stuff like resistors, ICs, etcetera.

I need another belt though, now another one is failing! Best to replace them all in one go, I think.

getprogs diyAudio Member Join Date: Jul 2008	Where did you get the new rubber? I have exactly the same situation - where did you get the replacement parts?
