I am interested in converting the rs-232 control port of a pro-audio processor to USB. This is fairly easy, as standalone chips for conversion are available. I was thinking that having the addition of a usb to spdif converter would also be a good idea for tuning. Is anyone aware of either a hardware single-chip usb-hub or either a usb-to-spdif converter or usb-to-rs232 chip that offers usb passthough so both chips could be daisy-chained? The idea would be that a single daughterboard could be inserted in the processor that would allow a single usb connection from a laptop to control the processor from the tuning software while simultaneously using a wave generation program for test tones.
Thanks Hans |

TI makes a USB hub that also has a built in RS232 (logically, it is one of the devices connected to the hub). You could then connect the USB Audio to the hub.
