Just thinking about a DAC project - nothing special so far, with one exception: I'd very much like to have an I²S input, directly attached to the DAC chip. I have played with LVDS driver and receiver circuits, there's no problem to transfer I²S data between a CD drive and a DAC with this system.
Since I won't rely on this proprietary format alone, there has to be some common SPDIF input receiver as well, most probably CS8416 these days.
The question is: How to switch between the two interfaces?
For the LVDS receivers it's easy, their outputs can be disabled. But what's with the CS8416 (in hardware mode)? I didn't find any possibility to disable its ouputs, the only possibility I see is to force it into a permanent reset state when it is not active. Will this work?
