Just FYI... Microsoft has incorporated HDCD decoding into windows after they purchased Microsonics. I'm making a shift to harddrive based files through spdif to an outboard 24/96 DAC to my system.
Rant warning: I have several HDCD CD's and the sound quality of the additional 4 bits is just magic. Funny how the industry was chasing after DVD-A and SACD, when there was a great option that was backward compatible available. Hopefully Blue-ray for HD-DVD will shake out for us audio philes someday! -David |
