Has anyone bought or heard a Zhaolu V 2.5 dac ? There are two versions. The A version with an AD1852 and a C version with the CS4398 .
I was wondering if anyone has been able to compare the A with the C version. The AD1852 supposedly has better bass and the CS4398 sounds 'warmer' . I'm sure all this also depends on implementation but I'd be interested in knowing what you all think about them. My A version has slightly better bass than the inbuilt DAC of a Marantz CD17-II ( TDA1545 I think ). But it is not as good as the CD-17-II at midrange . When the music gets complicated it tends to get noisy ! I haven't got around to modding it yet. The problem may not be the DAC chip itself. Lots of other areas that could be the problem. Cheers.

I had the version 2.0 before and it is a decent sounding set.
I won't worry too much about which chip sounds better. Modding the set improves on the performance significantly. |
