Default Clock rerouting query

Clock rerouting query.

Hi all,

I have a Philips player that I am using as a transport, and am building a clock module for it.
Now, I am only interested in the decoder chip, and do not really care for the digital filter and bitstream DAC. One day, I will probably try and disable them completely, but I realise there is some interaction between them and the controlling micro, so am not keen on disabling them yet.

However, I am interested in feeding my clock straight to the decoder, and leaving the original crystal onboard to supply a clock to DAC, which is in turn fed back to the digital filter (I would break the link that feeds this clock further back to the decoder).

I don't care about the affects of two out of phase signals in the system causing issues for the quality of the bitstream DAC, but would it have any other adverse issues? If not, along with seperated power supply and regulation, I think this could be a good step forward (considering I am just using this for a transport).

Regards,
Phil

Also, forgot to add:

I know another option is to fed the clock to the DAC too, but this is an attempt at seperation.

So, I guess my question is: Is the first suggestion reasonable, or would I be far better off routing the clock output to each individual chip in the chain?

Hi Andy,
Its a CD940, which I gather is the same HW as a CD930 or 931.

Cheers,
Phil
