Hello,
I going to be running spdif out from my via epia m10000 board to an external dac. My question is: is there a difference between using the onboard spdif output compared to one; say, on an m-audio audiophile 192 card? this is for a car installation so i'd rather not use the pci card if i dont need too but i don't want to sacrifice sound quality if the onboard spdif isn't up to par. thanks, scott

I've heard, that some cards have their spdif out derived from analog output (nonsense isn't it?). This would be bad. Otherwise there should be no difference.
