The advantage of the 989 compared to 668/868 is that the 989 has a linear power supply. I owned a 868 and now i use a 989 (only for homecinema). I tweaked both machines with new masterclock, Black Gate caps and new opamps.
The 989 is better than 868, but compared with a "normal" good CD-Player, sound quality is not so good (like the most multi-player). On my opinion, i would suggest 989 only for DVD movie playback, picture quality is superp and with a better SPDIF output module (see picture) soundquality is perfect with external processor. |
