ive just paid for a pink triangle cardinal transport, yet ive just read on here that evenetually all the oil filled caps will fail , im left feeling heartbroken , and also curious , how easy to repair would it be , has anyone else had it done and can any competent repair shop carry out the work ?
ive tried to mail the main man but i cannot use email until ive made a few posts , so if your reading this john, would you be able to suggest my next move? mucho thanky, and hi [ new member ] |

also the serial number is 90072
im told its the newer version with cardinal on the drawer, does that mean im safe ? lol or nothing at all..... |

Hi Voice Coil,
Sorry for the delay in replying. If you open your unit and it has brown Nippon Chemi-Con “LXF” series capacitors, then these will ALL need replacing. It’s not a difficult job for a competent repair shop – as long as they can work with Doubled – Sided PCB’s without destroying the plated-thou holes. John

Hi John,
I have an ordinal with the same problem. Can you tell some advice about the kind of caps to use. Just low esr caps or any other caracteristic is required? Thanx in advance Loris |
