Hi,
I got an intermittent tracking problem on my Sony DVD player model DVP-S745D. I believe the lens need to be replaced. I have checked with Sony & the replacement of the optical pickup mechanism costs quite a bit. I better off buying a new DVD player but this Sony player is quite good in term of the picture quality. Therefore I would like to find out if anyone out there replace the lens before. Thanks! |

Hi,
The replacement of the laser is not much different from a cd or dvd player. What is the laser part number? KSSxxx? Open the cover and take a look. |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if i can read/check the part number of the laser. I got from Sony bulletin are: 1) A-6062-397-A (Optical pickup) 2) 8-820-081-03 (Optical pickup) 3) 8-820-081-09 (Optical pickup) |

These are their inhouse code numbers. What I mean is open the cover and look at the label stuck on the laser module at the back,
you should see printed something like "KSS213c".You can then go and but the particular model at SLT. |

Well,in my place,a new DVD laser pickup(manufactured by Sanyo or Hitachi) costs around RM40.Your's part number should be something like KSH3xx.

Hi,
I removed the cover & have a close look at the lens & the surrounding area but I couldn’t find any part number (nothing, no label). I also find it difficult to replace the lens. Judging by the lens mechanism, it doesn’t seems to be cheap or rather S$10. I’ll call Sony & hopefully they can reveal the lens part number to me. Is it possible for me to replace with another make or model of the lens? |

OK, i have checked with Sony & they told me the lens model is KHM220AAA & it costs S$149 (exclude labor cost). This is not the whole laser pickup assy. I'll take a photo over the weekend & post it here next week.
