Could it be the spindle motor / drive electronics to the spindle motor? Every time you insert a disc, one of the first things the player will try to do is spin-up.

Open the cover and see what it does when you load a disk...

Cheers

Hi,

Laser focus may be off calibration - seems it has difficulties seeing a DVD and reading CDs properly.

Could be that the laser is weak already - if the player has been used for a long long time it may be that the laser assy is nearing 'end of life'.

Cheers

About the spindle motor,it's possible, seen that both are using brushless 3 phase motor, but check for wiring.About the lens itself, you need to contact Pioneer for their own laser pick up unit.

Just wondering what kind decoder chipset inside???Pioneer own design or the more popular Taiwan's Mediatek chipset???
