I have decided to save some dollars to buy a good DVD player for playing 24/96 transfers of my LP collection, the problem is what will actually give good stereo performance on the sound side, most I've heard are not much good so any suggestions.
I don't want to spend more than say $800.00 Oz, second hand is OK, I don't need state of the art video or amazing surround sound options though I will probably run a few videos through it from time to time. I have heard some of the toshiba units have good potential, any one have expereince with these. |

I would recommend the Harman/Kardon DVD-47. For only 399 US dollar you get a player with alot of goodies like HDMI, DVD-audio, SACD and more.

For the reason, I bought one 970.
For USD$149 it's not too bad, and the dvd player play all music cds(even DVD-a, sacd). But I must to say, they're not as good as Marantz. And it has nice pictures when I watch the movies. Sorry, I don't have any experiences with Toshibas before. |

I agree with pioneer in the sub 1000$ class. If I remember well Siegfried (linkwitz lab) had a 656 as a source

Do you have the 24/96 files, or only dvd's? If you already have the files on your computer, then a usb-I2S dac would be interesting.
