VRDS 25 and VRDS 25X: how to tell the difference?

I've been looking for a Teac VRDS 25X or 25XS to use as a transport.

I've been offered one from here in Canada that the vendor is "almost certain" is a VRDS 25X, but which he admits only has "VRDS 25" on the faceplate and back panel. Date of manufacture is December 1995. The manual gives the net weight as 16.5 kg.

Is there any 100% certain test to determine whether it's a 25X or a plain 25?

My thought is that Dec. 1995 is too early for it to be a 25X, as all the information I've seen states that the 25X was manufactured in 1998 or later.

I can't seem to find any post here on diyAudio or elsewhere on the Net that contains the information I need.

All tips, hints, comments, leads greatly appreciated.

The X -Version has to have a digital Input ,cause You can use it as a DAC.
