I heard some rumour that Wolfson is inside X-box but I have never heard of Wolfson in any high-end.
I have 2 samples, thought they were cool but cooler chips have arrived...

Hi,
While at my dealers showroom I stumbled upon a Arcam CD33 FMJ series Up-sampling CD player. It uses the Wolfson WM8740 DAC. Arcam apparently gave up the ring DAC. The DAC chip is available from Wolfsons website for $ 8. Funny to see pricing in $$ instead of GBP's or Euro's on a UK based company's website. Anyone has a listening experience with this DAC???http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/ |

A while back, I did some improvements to a cheap (AUS$200) DVD player that used WM8746 DACs.
With good supply bypassing, the results were quite outstanding, and better than most CD players. For the money, these chips work very well indeed. Eric.
