Also Philips CD player devices with the loader model 1265 (which is in use in CD player models e. g. from Primare, NAD and Thule Audio) are hard to find, because this mentioned Philips loader are not in use by typical audio components from Philips. It was used e. g. in the recorder "CDR-765" (only as player drive unit - the recorder unit is an other) and the IDE drive CDD-3610.
The same is to observe by the CDM12.4 head (in use by the old CDpro/CD-industrial units and therefore often to find in expensive audio cd player models) - by Philips I have find this optical pickup only by their CDI models (CDI = compact disc interactive).

I suspect that even the VAL1250 in Philips devices in that kind is in use and not by typical Philips audio devices (usually with the unit VAE1250) and therefore are difficult to determine.
An additional possibility is the use in Philips audio systems (include FM-tuner, pre- and power amp so as loudspeakers).

Both kinds of devices are not to find in the wide range of online cross reference cd player lists like
http://www.nanocamp.de/cd-liste.htm
or
http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/showthread.php/30925-CD-Players-and-their-DACs
and therefore this wanted information is only find by chance.

I could not find any Philips players !
The Marantz CD-7 uses the VAM1252.
.
Follow compact disc recorder models I have found:
Marantz DR6050 und DR4050
Philips CDR570-CDR770-CDR775-CDR930 and CDR950;
by the google keywords "Service Manual" and VAL1250 or VAM1250 you will find the manuals online.
There must be much more models from so called hifi systems, PC stuff and CDRW changers for car- and home hifi.

Just for reference if anyone should stumble on this old thread:

Philips Audio CD Recorder CDR779/00 uses the VAM1250 module as the play-back unit.
(This CD-Recorder isn't included on Vasilli's site.)
I'm repairing one at the moment, so there can be no doubt as it's clearly labeled.

Rgds.

I'd be interested in how you get on jpk73... I have an Audio Analogue Maestro with an intermittently faulty VAL 1250 9305 023 25001 E143838 drive
which I'm looking to replace. I recently managed to pick up a cheap Philips CDR775 and tried to use the VAM 1250 9305 022 25001 E143838 fitted from that, but when fitted inside the Maestro, it won't read CD's. I've just refitted the donor drive back into the CDR775 and its working fine there... so my search continues...

I successfully tested the replacement mech I got from the seller in Germany: it's an original VAM1250 by Philips, he has it from a (closed) workshop stock, I wired it in and it played fine in my Naim CDS3 (the Naim is said to perform a special test routine and reject the drive unless specs are spot on). Not cheap, but I think worth. He has some more left, so if you want to buy one from him you can contact him here.
