Wadia 850 - mods anyone ?

Hi -

I've just acquired a Wadia 850.

Looking at the power supply feeding the digital/analogue board, I noticed that L7812's/L7912's & L7805/7905 voltage regulators are used...

Has Wadia been skimping on component quality here ?

Can anyone recomend better alternative devices for this board ??

Are you sure they are not pre-regulators?

That's a very good question !

I've been looking at 'Super' regulators on 'net, and not once did I consider Wadia using this in their design for the power regulation (!)

(if I only had ONE more brain cell - the other one wouldn't be so lonely!)

I'll need to make some detailed notes from the pcb - or take a photo...would you be able to tell from that rfbrw ?
