Hi group, I know it's a old transport but I very good one. I'm trying to either find a remote for it or find out if any one has or knows were I can get Philip Pronto Pro codes for it.
Thanks |

Hello Yise1
It's my experience that the code tables for most JVC components are interchangeable, so if your uniremote features another JVC model you can try that one. If not, you could try to purchase or borrow a cheap (second-hand?) remote for an other model JVC player and perhaps copy the codes to your uniremote using its learning features. The only issue with this is that it possible that not all features the 1050 remote has are present on the substitute remote, but basic controls will be available. I found this out while using the remote for my sadly departed RX-1050vptn receiver on a model I had before the 1050 (RX222 I think). With the 1050 remote (one of the best remotes I ever used), I was abled to control all features and even some not even present on the remote that came with the 222 like turning the surround on an off. Good luck and and if this reply is of any use, please let me know via this thread. John. |

Yise1,
Once I had the same adventure: got a nice Rotel without RC. And that player is one of those that wouldn't move [~] a finger without RC... It was a long fight, but enjoyed it quite much. One approach / possibility is the Pronto codes; But there is also Lirc / Winlirc. This way you can use the pc, and you are quite free to change / combine codes. http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/jvc/ On this page you can find config files for lirc / winlirc for the JVC type remotes. So the procedure is: learn about Lirc / Winlirc. Install it on a laptop. Construct the lirc output device /IR transmitter [some transistor & an IR LED on the serial or parallel port] Calibrate: search, amongst your home gadgets, one unit that has in the LIRC config file library a ready made config file. A VCR, a TV, anything. Download the file for it, install in Lirc, and start to issue commands with that homemade transmitter. When all this works, you are ready to experiment with the different JVC config files. I gave a short look, they indeed seem to be quite similar, so maybe there is hope to find your code. Once you found at least one command working for the player, you can try all the key-subcode sequences, and can surely find out all the functions included. Me, I found back my rcd 990 code amongst the Pronto CCF files. With some headache I then translated that into LIRC config file format, installed in Winlirc, and explored all the commands down to the last secret ones. Then transferred all this into a PIC based handheld remote, and enjoying my player since that.. Anybody in need of an RCD 990 remote unit? Ciao, George |

I was giving another look, and it seems to me that You could start with
the RM RD1100 config file - that's a DAT player from maybe the same period? Then I would start changing the pre-data byte [0XC9] in the header part, let's say, for [0XCD] But seriously, it seems like that is the conventional pre -data byte for CD players with JVC..Anyway, all the CD player configs are at the ~ end, like the RM SX**** ones. Ciao, George |

Thanks Joseph, I'm not at all familiar with "Lirc" but it does seem promising so I will try to learn it. By the way if run across any more Rotel equipment without a remote you can download pronto files from Rotel's web page. I see you go to Remote Central also, I love their site I configured my Pronto Pro there. I know I'm asking alot but can you assist me in finding the codes for a Pioneer DVR-210 or the 310 I believe they use the same remote.
Thanks again Joseph, you have been very helpful. |
