Are there any good informationals or white papers out there in cyberspace on the topic of SP/DIF transfers? I cannot seem to get digital I/O right...no matter what!
My most recent dilemna is:
Tried to use my effects processor (Lexicon MPX-500) with my PCI audio interface (GINA24.) Both utilize SP/DIF I/O. Wanted to stay in the digital domain to avoid 4 stages of AD/DA conversion. Had all the connections correct...used the correct cables...I got beautiful reverb, but the track played way too fast; & I only got left mono out of the Lexicon back into the GINA. The system display on the Lexicon read "SP/DIF Input Requires External Clock", yet the GINA was set to output correctly.
Very frustrated.

May you have a master clock source problem!
The Output is in most cases the clock master source!
Other cases when you have an external master clock source...
may test with my Spectrum analyzer & wave generator the overall
performance then blind testing will give often false results!
