Default First DAC - pls advise.

Hi,

I am new to digital DIY. I'd like to do a DAC (to use with P101 amp with passive pre) but seems being overwhelmed & don't know where to start.

If all parts will be order from digikey, could you recommend a couple of good & simple DAC to start with (as my first DAC project)? Thank you.

Cheers,

Passive pre amps are all ways good to use.. You will have to use a buffer tho on this Dac.. I run all my stuff passivly its much nicer BUT it takes time to setup.

Thanks for your comment.

..

Many suggests me to start with NOS DAC with TDA1543 but I cannot find it on digikey or mouser.

What other DAC circuit do you recommend to go for?

Any one know where the CS8412 and the old TDA1543 can be ordered online?

Thanks!

If you like passive pre's you should build what was my closely guarded secrete, till it was sucked out of me, on the Solid State forum, now it's there for all to enjoy.
Lightspeed Attenuator a new passive preamp

I have this thread added also, I like a plane jane nice pot. Im thinking I might try a DACT or a welborn labs Volume pot. I ditched my relay based one as the relays were not making contact at certain levels and i was getting annoyed.
