I2s connection for cdpro2 and pcm1704

I have a dac with CS8414 DF1704 and PCM1704
and the cdpro 2 with I2s output.

How can the two be connected and will it improve sound substantiallly.

Will reclock works to if I2s connection used.

It can be done.

Rewire your DF1704 into I2S input mode;
Bypass CS8414;
Make a new connector for MCK, DIN, LRCLK, BCLK.

Not an easy task....

The new data bus can be make by using CAT5 wire and DSUB connector. But I guess 2 meters will be the longest length allowed, unless you are capable to add equalization or damping.

De-emphasis and muting will be a problem too.

IMO, if you choose to use I2S interface, reclock will not longer be meaningful. Better to locate the MCK right at your digital filter and feed it back to the transport.

BTW, how much have you spend on your CDPRO-2?
I haven't bought it, but really wonder how many people have got it in HK.

You need to take care, cause by default, cd-pro2 outputs EIAJ.
You can change it by the dsa interface, but you need a uC that can handle that.
If you built your own control card, no problem, if you bought it, it may be a problem.
