I have just modified my top-loading Philips CD723 so that it has a sliding lid instead of the hinged one that it had previously.
![]() Other than relocate two switches I have made no changes to the electronics. One switch detects if the lid (originally drawer) is open or closed and it is this that now doesn't function. There is nothing wrong with the switch but whether is is open or closed, the CDP stays in the same state, ie it either 'thinks' the lid is open or closed. The only thing that will change the status from open to closed (or visa versa) is if I remove the mains power for a few seconds and then power up again. Can anybody suggest what has gone wrong here? I have checked for the obvious things like shorts but can find nothing.

Hi Nuuk (long time no talk)
You mentioned 2 switches the one not working "the drawer open/close detect switch" Is the other switch open/close.? Does this not have to trigger first to initiate the reset. |

Hi Pete, I didn't see your post here! Yes, the open/close switch needs activating twice and that still happens.
Anyway, I have found out that by leaving the 'drawer open' switch permantently shorted, the player does detect new CD's and reads their contents accordingly. So I have finished the job and now have the CD723 back in my main system making beautiful music! One good thing to come out of all this is that using a bog standard CD723 for two weeks and then listening to my modified one again made me realise just how good all those mods are!
