Foobar2000 FIR Crossover from Aedio

needs a 4 channel sound card at least. And since I don't want to do A-D in the computer, it leaves you with very few options to actually do that. There's a Lynx card that has 16 channels digital out, but those are all AES/EBU and I have no idea how to feed that to my standard SPDIF 75 ohm receiver.

So I've been looking at those crossover options, however, I am somewhat of a purist on the DAC end and currently I don't see solutions that would work on the computer end and allow me to build my own DACs.

Pburke,

One of the members on here modified a M-audio revo for 3 s/pdif channels. There is a consumer option with no modification required, but requires resampling. The brand? Creative. The cards? All Creative cards from Live! 5.1 and up. All these cards have 3xS/pdif through a coaxial 4 pin minijack. You can also easily make 3xs/dpif optical outs with the extension pins on the back of the cards.

The only problem with this is that you need to resample to 48khz or 96khz (because the card resamples 44khz data). A lot of people resample audigy cards within foobar to 96khz, bypassing the poor internal resampling of the 10k2 chip (creative DSP chip). Right now I'm using an audigy4 to do this with the Aedio crossover. It's a shame that the X-Fi cards do not have the 4 pin digital minijack. It figures that the first generation of creative that don't resample also don't offer the 4 pin minijack. They also disabled the 3xspdif exension pins on the back of the card.
