Default BNC connectors - clamp on or twist on?

I have never used BNC connectors before but want to make up some digital cables.

What are the pros and cons of using the clamp-on type of BNC plug and the twist-on types?

Pros/cons...

The one requires a crimping tool and is quicker to terminate, the other does not, just a spanner/wrench and soldering iron for centre core...

I think (dunno for sure) that the crimp type is better giving gas tight bonding with no poor solder for signal to travel through.

I do not own a crimp tool either but take my own cable to a "computer cable custom shop" where some ladies sit and crimp RG58 and 59 all day in between soldering VGA cables.

The labour charge is not bad and they supply the BNC, if they duff it, they supply the new plug

Here in SA I pay about USD5.00 for 2 BNCs fitted this way....

A boring answer on a DIY forum, but buy a ready-made cable. How much is it, €10? You will never be able to make anything better than that.

"If the use of an exotic cable makes a DAC sound better, then the DAC is not performing adequately and should be repaired or redesigned." -- John Watkinson, Resolution magazine.
