Last week I upgraded my Shigaraki dac with the Dumpty power supply. The difference is big, providing a more refined and transparent presentation. The provervial "sounds more like analog" fits here. It is easily noticed in female sibilances, which before were kind of harsh, now they are more natural and smoother. The soundstage is more developed and each instrument has kind of a cushion of air. And it will get better with more break-in time...
The Dumpty is the ps module that 47 Lab designed for the Progression dac and the Flatfish transport but it can be connected to the Shigaraki. These dacs share same circuit design and board, the only differences being the enclosures and power supplies. Both power supplies use a specially designed and constructed transformer with only one diode for it's rectification -half wave rectification- so these-specially the Dumpy's- must special to provide that performance. |
