Default Green LED's in the drive bay now Passe'??

A few years ago it seemed it was all the rage to coat the edges of CD's with a green pen or put green rubber rings on the discs and some companies, including Krell even went so far as to put Green LED's on the inside of the drive bay. Something about the green light counter acting the scattering of the laser light or some such.

Is this now Passe'? did this fad pass. was there any real merit to it at all??

Default Illuminated discussion

I don't know about the green but I'm about to try blue any day now. I'll post my findings then. I seem to remember seeing related threads before. Probably worth searching. I remember mixed opinions being given but I reckon it's such a simple and reversable mod that its got to be worth a try.
