I finally found the magic combination of opamps for my Yamaha CD-745. I narrowed it down to 3 with the following results:
AD826 (I/V) + AD826 (Buffer): Balanced, punchy, crystal clear mids, highs smooth but a little dry. Much better than the stock NJM 2068 + NJM 5532. My 2nd favorite combination. AD826 (I/V) + AD8620 (Buffer): Heavenly mids, highs, air, detail, etc. Solid low bass but very weak mid-bass. AD826 (I/V) + AD843 (Buffer): BASS! Clean, punchy, and well defined but too much mid-bass for my taste. AD843 (I/V) + AD8620 (Buffer): WOW! Heavenly mids, highs, air, detail, etc. as before. Bass somewhere between the two chips, i.e. solid, punchy, and well defined low and mid-bass but not overblown. Puts a smile on my face |
