There has been a lot of discussion in this forum over the years regarding ways to mod/upgrade the Philips DVD963SA player. Since I happen to have the slightly earlier DVD962SA, I am interested in anyone's experience in upgrading this model. There are many differences. The 942 uses a CS4397 DAC and OPA275 op amps for the L/R channels (lesser units for the other channels) and does not have upsampling. However, I suspect there are also many similarities, especially in regard to power supply and passive component upgrades. The clocking circuitry is complex, but I suspect not as complex as the 943, given the 942's lack of upsampling. It looks to me like providing a TentLabs quality 16.9344 MHz master clock would make a large difference (I have emailed TentLabs about this). I am really only interested in SACD performance, since I play redbook through my Curcio TDA1541 hybrid tube DAC. Any experience out there? Thanks, Jack
