Sony CDP-C215 CD Player

This 5-Disc changer has alway worked perfectly and I would like to repair it if possible. When a disc is inserted it starts to spin and play and then it resets after a few seconds. I took the cover off and the disc continues to spin and a noise is coming from the optical block. The noise is similiar to the noise the unit makes when it is loading up or when you skip to the next track. I can't tell if the noise is coming from the motor or the optic (part #KSS-240A) Is there a common problem with this model? All other functions seem fine and I could use any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I see tree possibilities.
The first one is a dirty lens. Easy fix.
Second one is the flex cable from the laserunit. It's a very common problem with these cd players.

The disc motor may have a bad bearing or brush. Replace.

Note that the disc table height is critical. Looking at the RF, or eye pattern, is necessary to diagnose what's going on here.
