ok, i posted a long time ago about my problems, but since then, i've rebuilt the whole thing with brand new parts, but the same thing still happens:
at 1-2v, the clock will generate a squarish wave ranging from 100hz to 1.5mhz depending on the voltage (despite the 16mhz crystal). anything above that voltage will just draw a lot of current and not generate any wave whatsoever, but rather just a +2+VDC detected by the scope. if i set the psu to the right voltages according to documentation, it will draw a good .2+ amperes, which is waaaaay off. what's going on here? any ideas??? thanks |

strogg. First check ur powersupply for correct output that is +/-5V with the FET and the IC removed.
Your current draw is way too high. What is ur input-voltage? Janneman the schematic can be found here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...928#post199928 How's ur health? OK?

schematic: scroll down a bit here: Can someone send to me the Elso's latest clock schematics (version6)? :)
layout: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...hybrid&t=55352 it's not the same as mine... well, not nearly, but i used it to double check my own layout and made sure it matched both that and the schematic. i doubt i would have gotten it wrong twice in a row unless i misread it or something:-/ |

Elso! Don't you start this "ur" thing too, please! It's is difficult enough this multi-cultural communication without people inventing their own vocabulary My health is fine, thanks! Jan Didden

Must be a wiring error. JFET's can't draw that much current.
Elso, how about using P2P wiring? Mine works fine, using single power supply and direct coupling of camparator. Tom EE |

In electronics 2-3 years is a very long time. New, smaller and better components are to be found all the time. Maybe you should look for alternatives. Maybe someone has done an up-to-date fresh version of the same circuit or a similiar concept. I am not saying Kwack Clock is bad ( I understand not much of digital circuits ) I am saying there might be better performing and modern circuits. Does not hurt to look for something better .... Regards lineup
