Well, I took a closer look at the datacheets of both dac's and it appears that they are fairly compatible, at least in stand-alone mode. The registers M0-M3 are all the same, and I guess the stand-alone moce selection will also work. the analog outputs are also the same, as are the digital inputs (the 4398 just has an extra dsd input). The big difference is that it has far more supply voltages. I'm going to look into those today. Any help would of course be great!

Any comments on this?? Both positive and negative are welcome of course.
I also took al closer look at the digital filter, and it turns out they are virtually the same, though the stopband of the 4398 is about 12 dB lower. |
