Hi!
As you know that many PC motherboard is already build-in with sound card but not many have a optical in. And I don't want to add a PCI sound card to my PC because the motherboard have this function! So, I want to build a "optical in to USB out converter" for my PC. Does anyone have the experience to build this circuit or having the diagram of this circuit or other suggestion for me? I'm just want to record MD via optical to my PC! Please help me!!! |

Check first if you do not have spdif in/out on a motherboard connector - many motherboards (including mine) have one, only the rear bracket with the matching connectors has to be ordered as an option.

I thought that MD players don't have SPDIF outputs because of copy-protection reasons.
You could use an "optical" to coax SPDIF converter and feed it to a PCM2906 chip. I know that some people already built coax SPDIF to USB converters with that chip so I think that a little bit of searching has to be done to find one of the schemes. I think that there's one on diyhifi.org

Thanks for your suggestion first "DragonMaster"!
Infact I already have a circuit called "Copy bit inverter" that can slove the "copy-protection" problem of MD. I have searching the web about the circuit I want but all of that circuit just only have spdif / optical out and not in. So, if anyone know where can I find a cicuit that contain spdif / optical in with USB out to PC, please let me know. |
