qualty of new dvd/cd mechanism/transport

has anyone worked on or played with the DVD players?

would like to hear about the qualty of the dvd/cd mechanism/transport

there would have to generic manufacturers of the dvd/cd mechanism/transport
eg the cdm1, 2, 4 etc by philips

any manufacturers make a decent "mechanism/transport"

or are we left with the cd-pro2

but what about DVD/SACD/DVD-A?

can the dc-pro2 read these?

Hi, ( sorry for my english)
my first post on "DIGITAL"
Recently I have tried to plug my old Aragon DAC with one very cheap
Amstrad DVD player. It works, but the sound is very bad.
Unlistenable compared to my standard Denon CDP used as a transport. I am very surprised of it and haven't any explanation.
But I have noted that the frequency led was actived at 48KHz on the Aragon instead the normal 44.1Khz.
