Hi!
I want to improve the performance of an AES3 input by a cable equalizer. I have already worked with different kinds of EQ and had some good results. The problem is, that a permanent equalisation decreases signal quality due to overcompensation for short cable lengths. I have seen professional equipment with automatic or adaptive EQ, and I wonder how this works. Any hints? Holger |

DSP I should think, it's quite hard to compensate for cable frequency attenuation with an electronic filter. How long are your cables?

The device is used in mobile applications, therefore cable type and length are variable. I could use a manual switch for different equalizer characteristics, but preferably it should work autonomous.
I know that in telecommunication applications adaptive filters on DSP are used for equalisation and echo cancellation, but this would be overkill in my case. |

Embed the audio in a SMPTE259 datastream. Video transmission has built in cable equalisation.
