I am about to pull thr trigger on DAC manufactured by DIT Paradise: Monica 2. Its recieved excellent reviews and i am particularly excited as i will be matching it with an D class map manufactured by the same, and one and only Yeo.
My only reservation is that i need to feed the DAC via a PC hookup i.e. USB and not via SPDIF/RCA. 1. Has anyone modded Monica for USB 2. IS their a comparable DAC that is wired for a USB and runs off 12V Thanks |

Why not just get a SqueezeBox? I'm using it right now with a Derek Shek NOS DAC, and it's quite nice. The Monica DAC should be similar.

You could use Jim Hagerman's usb to s/pdif converter: http://hagtech.com/hagusb.html I made one too (http://www.ecp.cc/usb-spdif.html) but my experience with Jim's products is that he probably found some clever way to make it a bit better than the rest of us

Thanks for all the great input... i think i will try the Hag USB. I might have some questions at a later stage... hope you don't mind if i ask dsavitsk. I would be looking to wire it directly to monica in the same chassis
I actually have squeezebox (slimp3) running on another system which feeds a Bel Canto DAC. Fantastic sound. But you know how this hobby is... always looking and hear something else |
