Default Hacking sound card

Hello,

I was wondering on how to hack a soundcard to exctract i2s or other low level digital audio signal (I don't know if we can call this like that).

Wich card to choose?
I've lookink for the new SB Live that is rated at 96kHz 24 bits, but it's difficult to find wich chip is on it. I we could, it could be possible to hack the signals between the chip and the dacs.

What's your opinion and which card could be good candidate. Just need to be 24bits 96 or 192Khz and if possible low cost........

Thanks
