I would like to connect a PCM2706 to an AD1895 sample rate converter, configured for 96kHz output data.
I assume the input is run in slave mode, and the output in master. Would I therefore use a 96kHz * 256 =24.675MHz crystal? Also, the PCM2706 is specified as 16bit I2S output. The AD1895 indicates I2S compatible on the input, but does not list a specific word length. Will this work without glue logic? Thanks for your help. |

That is why you want to use I2S, instead of the J. A. Pan, Inc. format.

An AD1895/1896 will happily accept 16 bit framed I2S. I've fed them 16 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit audio and they don't care.
And a 24.576MHz MCLK in 256Fs otuput master mode will produce your desired 96KHz output sample rate. |

I get frustrated when there are no hand holding examples on datasheets.

Usefulness of data sheet varies greatly from one vendor to another.
Then there are H-P operator's manuals. They are written in such a manner as to assume that you really don't need to read them. If you do, then they deem you unworthy to operate the unit. Jocko |
